The MTA is largely relying on borrowing to pay for the rest of its capital program. But other revenues it is counting on may not materialize, forcing the debt load even higher.
The MTA capital budget is risky enough as advertised: It requires putting $7 billion of repairs and system expansions on transit riders’ credit card. [...]

Before Dan Biederman came to Bryant Park, there were no movable chairs, no free movies on summer evenings, no kiosks selling sandwiches and refreshments. No lunch time crowds and not much in the way of civic life or social activity, either. There was, basically, an open-air drug market in [...]

Hey look, a Mini on the streets of Germany! That probably isn?t something to get excited about, but in this case, it’s enough to cause some mild titters. You see, while the company started showing off the new Mini Coupe back in June, all of the official pictures showed the top-of-Mini-mountain John Cooper Works model. [...]

Jenson Button is confident that he has the capability to win another world championship before he leaves Formula 1, having celebrated his 200th grand prix start in Hungary this weekend. The milestone achievement makes Button the eighth most experienced driver in F1 history, and the fourth among the current field, behind Rubens Barrichello, Michael Schumacher and Jarno Trulli. Having spent a long time in midfield equipment before his breakthrough world championship season with Brawn in 2009, Button's career path has been unusual compared to most title-winners

The 2011 NASCAR iRacing.com Class A Series, Season 2 came to a close with the final checkered flag of the season at Richmond International Raceway. With many new names climbing the sim racing ladder, Season 2 provided a stepping stone for twelve of the best to move onto the 2011 NASCAR iRacing.com Pro Series. Robert Hall claimed the overall championship, edging-out fellow NASCAR iRacing.com Series World Championship driver Ray Alfalla. Hall raced only thirteen times in the twelve week season, but managed eleven top fives and three wins. The old saying “Consistency wins championships” is once again proven correct, this time by Mr. Hall. In order to qualify for the NiPS, you must finish among the top twelve Class A drivers in the overall season standings. Sounds easy enough? But [...]

Fernando Alonso has tipped the McLarens as his favourites for victory in the Hungarian Grand Prix - although which of its two drivers succeeds will depend on the run to the first corner, he feels. Despite Sebastian Vettel maintaining Red Bull Racing's lock-out of pole positions this season at the Hungaroring, McLaren has looked to be a serious threat for victory, with Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button qualifying second and third. And Alonso, who will start from fifth on the grid, thinks it is McLaren that is looking stronger overall than Red Bull Racing.
